This is a letter published by David Villa in valenciacf.com and that we reproduce in his webpage
I wanted to write to all through “valenciacf.com” to share the moment that, with no doubt is the most difficult and emotional of my entire career. The time has come to say goodbye after five wonderful seasons in the club, I take many feelings with me, and leave many friends, but knowing that this is the good thing to do for the club. I have grown up as a player and as a person in Valencia. I have felt Valencia CF as my home since the first day and no-one can doubt that that will continue forever. I want everyone to know that it has been a great pride for me to have worn this shirt, that has given me so much and that I will always carry in my heart. It has also been an honour to wear the captain armband and, both in the field and out of it, I have always put all my efforts in defending Valencia as it deserves”.
“I would like to send warm greetings to all the supporters, that so much friendship and kindness have always shown me, since my first day to the last game in Mestalla. Also to all the other players of the team, who have helped me to be better, all the coaches that I’ve had, and the managers and people from the club, specially Manuel Llorente, and the workers from the club, with who I have worked day after day. I want to thank everyone and highlight, that after five years, I feel like another valencian, as do my two daughters. I have given everything for Valencia CF, and it will always be in my heart, I am also a shareholder and I wish them all the luck in the world. I am leaving with the satisfaction of knowing that the team is again where it deserves, fighting among the best teams in Europe in the Champions League. We as footballers pass, but the great supporters it has and the great institution that holds it, Valencia will always have a strong and competitive team, that will – I’m sure, give many joys to those that we love it.
I insist, I will always carry Valencia inside me. A thousand thanks to all for so many things… and AMUNT Valencia”
